A Modern Epidemic

We all experience stresses in a modern, busy lifestyle, and most stress is unavoidable.

At times stress can be a ‘good guy’; the body’s natural response to helping us to achieve our goals. However, stress can often stick around for longer than it's needed, causing our body to switch into ‘fight mode’ for much longer than we are designed to handle.

The effects of this on the health of our body and mind mean that harmful effects can be created from stress, or existing ones will be exacerbated, causing chronic inflammation.

Symptoms of stress are varied and personal, however some common ones can include:

  • Changes in sleeping habits
  • Muscle tension or aches
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Increased susceptibility to illness
  • Gastrointestinal complaints
  • Hypertension and dizziness. 

The difficulty in understanding the harmful effects of stress and anxiety on our health is that not all symptoms are initially obvious; most will develop gradually over time, making it hard to know just how much is ‘too much’.

Thankfully, there are many lifestyle, nutritional, and herbal options to consider in warding off the damages of stress, and in managing mental health conditions in general.

Pharmaceuticals are not the only option, and not our first point of call.
